TGPS conducted and overall Power Plant Performance Test in two Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers and two Steam Turbines to determine the current plant boiler performance (ASME PTC 4) and the Steam Turbine Performance (ASME PTC 6)

ThermoGen Power Service Inc. conducted the following activities.

  • Prepared a Site Specific Performance Test Procedure
  • Provide High-Precisiont Instrumentation to install around the power plant
  • Direct all testing activities at site
  • Prepare a performance test report
  • Identify together with the client opportunity areas for improvement

TGPS has been conducted the performance test for the Mejillones coal plant with using the technology of the Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler.

The performance tests conducted from minimum to maximum loads.

The tests followed the internationally accepted protocols ASME PTC 4.1, ASME PTC 46, PTC 6.0, PTC 22 and ASME PTC 19.1. Based on these protocols, TGPS created individualized protocols. This document described the methodology, calculations and instrumentation to be used to perform thermal performance tests.

TGPS conducted the Capacity Test at Cochrane Power Plant. The Coal Plant Performance Test was conducted in two pulverized coal boilers.

ThermoGen Power Services Inc. provided the following services as part of the functions of technical expert:

Submit a work plan for the performance of the maximum load tests

Develop the performance test protocol that specifies the terms and conditions of the test.

Provide testing instrumentation to measure the generator power output and auxiliary consumption in each power block.

Supervise the activities described in the performance test protocol to ensure compliance with the tests during plant trials.

Carry out a test report in which the recorded data.

Create the final coal power plant performance test report.

The government authorities accepted the final performance test report and testing activities followed the approved performance test protocol.

TGPS has been hired by the grid operator, Red Electrica de España to supervise the execution of the test to determine the generation costs and start-up costs of 87 power plants around the islands of: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Ceuta, El Hierro, La Gomera, Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza.

In total the following number of plants are to be tested during 18 months period.

Performance testing to regulate the electrical systems in the islands.

The goal is to understand the generation costs of each plant to review the electricity prices.
